Bringing sustainable aquaculture to the Great Plains and beyond
What We’re Doing
Beginning with a vision of delivering locally raised farm-fresh salmon to neighbors, GoodLife Agriculture will leverage state-of-the-art recirculating aquaculture systems, Midwest-grown land-based feed sources, and ground-transport supply chain connections to produce Atlantic Salmon and meet a growing need for high quality, low impact protein.
Humanely raised with pride in small-town Nebraska, our Salmon are fed and harvested with no impact to precarious wild fisheries, without reliance on international bulk fish imports, yet delivering wild-caught quality and superior traceability.

Where We Started
Kiel and Mimi VanderVeen started an audacious journey three years ago to bring fresh produce and salmon to the Midwest by learning how aquaponics systems work. That aquaponics farm in the midwest’s heartland was one of only two combined fish and vegetable farms in the United States.
Through their quick study and attention to detail in the systems and processes of of the recirculating aquaponics system, they quickly proved the effectiveness and success that could be had— producing over 1,200 lbs of Atlantic Salmon per week.
While the company lost its crops and live Atlantic salmon that were to be used to seed the expanded facility in an October 2024 fire, Kiel and Mimi’s dream to move forward on the 600,000-square-feet facility in Nebraska City continues.
